Background and Experience

Hi, I'm glad that you've found my website. Here's a little about myself:

I am a former engineer and have lived in Liphook with my wife and two children since early 2004, having spent the previous 15 years in Lindford.

I qualified in mechanical engineering and spent 25 years employed by both large and small companies as a design engineer. I have worked on a variety of products including information systems for financial and retail businesses, outdoor lamp signs, military vehicle test equipment, special equipment for the MoD and mobile phone base stations. My designs have included sheetmetal enclosures, plastic mouldings, mechanisms, hydraulics and microcontroller-based electronic systems.

I have been doing my own plumbing, wiring and general house maintenance since 1983, including re-wiring a flat, installation of several showers and the design and installation of a complete central heating system.

In June 2005 I was made redundant and decided to become self employed, using my DIY experience.

When I'm not fixing things for customers, I enjoy gardening, photography (my pics on Flickr), occasional bike rides and have an interest in railways. I am also webmaster for the Guildford Model Engineering Society; please feel free to drop in on one of our open afternoons. The two-day exhibition in early July is well worth a visit.
